RETIREMENT PLANNING
WHEN TIME BECOMES YOUR ENEMY
One of the greatest challenges facing entrepreneurs and investors today
is preparing for retirement. If you put a little money away each year
for 40 years you have no problem. For example, $2,000.00 per year
invested at 8 percent for 40 years would accumulate to $474,663.00.
That's a tidy sum for a very small investment. Sadly, most people put
off planning for too long. The one thing you do not want is to be old
and broke in the coming years.
ACTION NOW
You cannot depend on Social Security. When Social Security was implemented thirty-three people were paying in for each person collecting. That ratio is now three to one and
is now about one to one. The United States Department of Commerce has published figures indicating that 95 percent of the people in this country cannot afford to retire at the age of 65 after a lifetime of work. The only one you can depend on in your "golden years" will be yourself. You need to take action
now.
Retirement plans and discounted mortgages are a perfect combination for solving your retirement problems.
NOT ENOUGH TIME
When planning for retirement the necessary ingredients are time, money and safety. As you saw in the example at the beginning of this article, a long period of time will solve most problems, but what can you do if you have put off planning for too long and time is no longer your ally but your enemy.
First, you must get as much money into your plan as possible. You might say, "I am limited to the amount I can invest by law". This is true, but you are not limited to how much you can earn. For example, if you have accumulated $20,000 in your plan, but you know that you are going to need much more to reach your goal, you need to buy a mortgage for $20,000 (in your plan or self directed IRA) that you know you can sell for a profit of $5,000. Keep that mortgage in your plan for a short time and then sell it for a non-taxed profit. You now have $25,000. Do this over and over again until you reach your goal.
